Colfax, Ind Dec 14 – Davis Hayes died suddenly at 12 o’clock noon Saturday at his home here where he was stricken with a heart attack. He was born in Louisville, Ky June 8, 1852 and united in marriage with Lydia Dunbar, Sept 22, 1875. Most of his life had been spent in t his vicinity. Surviving are the widow and following children: Bert of Clarks Hill; RH Hayes, Indianapolis; Floyd, residing west of Colfax and Clyde Parker, Frankfort. Mr. Hayes was a member of the Christian Church and Colfax Masonic lodge. Funeral services were held at the residence at 2 p.m. Monday, Rev. Wiggins officiating with interment in Union Cemetery.
